President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed his sincere condolences to the family of Late Abdul Shakoor Ali upon his passing today.
Meeting the family this afternoon, the President touched on the late Abdul Shakoor Ali’s innumerable and invaluable services to the State and the people of Maldives; highlighting that he had always fulfilled his duties with dedication.
Late Abdul Shakoor Ali passed away at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital this morning after prolonged illness; he was 79 years of age.
In 1985 Late Abdul Shakoor Ali was awarded the Award of Recognition for his services in the area of Dhivehi literature. He has also served the government for longer than 43 years at various posts. Among those were Business Manager at the Maldivian Government Store in the late 60s, and the Assistant Auditor at the Audit Office in the late 70s.
The latest post filled by Late Abdul Shakoor Ali was as Special Advisor to the President, from 2006 to 2007.
The late Abdul Shakoor Ali is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters.
