President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that building a capable generation of youth is essential for the development and progress of the country. He made this remark while speaking at the function held this afternoon at Kanditheemu Island to inaugurate the harbour of the Island.
While speaking at the function, the President said that in the event of his being re-elected to office for a second term, his focus for the future will not be limited to developmental projects alone. Speaking in this regard, the President noted the importance of building a technology friendly youth generation, and underscored that digitalising the school system was the first step towards building a capable, competent, and tech-savvy generation.
Speaking on the major development projects undertaken by the administration, the President noted the need to have a vision for future development endeavours, in order to achieve our aspirations. In this regard, President Yameen highlighted the development of airports across country, emphasising that with the new economic vision those projects are helping to expand tourism industry to all parts of the country.
President Yameen said that the Velana International Airport development project will be followed by the development of an International seaport. On that note, the President highlighted the importance of building a capable tech-savvy youth generation for the successful execution of any development project.
