The Non-Resident Ambassador of Georgia, His Excellency Mr. Achil Dzuliashvili, presented his Letter of Credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this morning, at the President’s Office.
At the ceremony, the President welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term as the Ambassador of Georgia to the Maldives.
During the call, the President highlighted that this was the first time a Georgian Ambassador was appointed to the Maldives and expressed hope that the relations between the Maldives and Georgia will be enhanced during the tenure of the new Ambassador. President Yameen conveyed assurances towards working closely with Georgia to strengthen relations between the Maldives and Georgia. The President also noted that the voices of small states, such as the Maldives and Georgia, needs to be heard in the international arena.
The Ambassador of Georgia expressed gratitude for receiving him as the first Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives; assuring the President that he would work to promote relations between the Maldives and Georgia for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The President was accompanied at the call by the Minister Health H.E. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office H.E. Mohamed Naseer and the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ahmed Sareer.
