President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has appealed to all Maldivian citizens to exercise patience and put forward national interest at times of difficulty. The President made the appeal while speaking at a gathering organised by the Progressive Party of Maldives.
Underscoring that the President is Head of State in the Maldives, President Yameen appealed to law enforcement agencies and the Maldivian people, to have faith in the Office towards implementing the Supreme Court’s ruling of 1 February 2018, in line with the laws of the nation.
The President further noted that the Administration was currently in consultations with the Supreme Court in order to implement the court’s ruling within proper rules and procedure. He also reiterated that his priority was ensuring peace and stability within the Maldives and its people.
