President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim have this evening, inaugurated the Edutainment and Heritage concept Park "Rasrani Bageecha".

During the inauguration, President Yameen stated that the park belonged to all Maldivians and that the main purpose of the park was to provide a platform for our children to explore their educational and artistic skills.

The newly established Park consists of several features including giant play structures which enable a variety of entertainment activities for children while being a comfortable and relaxing environment for adults.

Upon the inauguration, the President and First Lady took a tour of the park and watched the Digital History Display at Usgekolhu, which provides in-depth information on Maldivian history.

The park consists of three play structures along with a Vertical Garden displaying beautiful trees.

Some of the facilities and features also include, classrooms built with glass walls incorporating state of the art technology, 180 Art Deck to be used by children of different ages to explore their artistic expression, an Amphitheatre which can seat 200 people at a time and a “Koraage”. The Koraage works to revive the cultural, and historical, children's sport.

Rasrani Bageechaage also consists of a huge water fountain and a Mariyaadhuge specially designed for senior citizens with “joali", traditional hammocks, and "holhuashi", or benches, for sitting.
