President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated the administration’s aims of realising the aspirations of the people. The President made this remark while speaking at the inauguration of the newly established community centre in Hulhumalé, Fahiveni. The President underscored his hopes of a peaceful and harmonious society in the Maldives.

Speaking at the ceremony held on Thursday evening, President Yameen described Hulhumalé as being filled with youthful dreams. He said that the city was tied to the youths' aspirations, and stated that the Hulhumalé housing project was among the highest priorities of this administration.

The President further stated that this administration regarded the youth as an integral part of our society. He said that the administration puts in every effort to tackle the challenges faced by them, as it was essential for the progress of the nation.

In his speech, President Yameen emphasised that we as a citizen, were responsible to safeguard our country, and pointed out that none would come from afar to do it in our place. He also stressed that we must have the drive and the skills to take this nation forward.

The President also highlighted that while one group tries relentlessly at providing a quality life for the people, another is regrettably encouraging the destruction of this community. He further noted that despite some political leaders emphasizing the independence and sovereignty of the Maldives, they did not practice in their affairs, what they preached.

Stating that the administration must be held accountable, the President said that doing so must result in the people's contentment. The President called upon all political leaders and scholars to set great examples for our youngsters and the youth. He also asked all leaders to reflect on what they could do for the people, as administrators of this country, and strengthen the bond with the citizens.
