President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has, on Wednesday morning, inaugurated the sewerage system at Kanditheemu Island in North Miladhunmadulu Atoll. The President is currently on an official tour of some islands in South Thiladhunmathee Atoll, and Kanditheemu Island of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.
While speaking at the inauguration, the President stated that the main aim of the Administration was to make Maldives a robust, developed, nation and highlighted the various development projects that are being carried out in this regard.
In his speech, the President noted that the main reason for empowering Government Companies where in line with the Administration’s efforts to fulfil the needs of every citizens.
Stating that an Administration’s main priority should be to guarantee the basic needs of the people, President Yameen pointed towards two major achievements; that of providing electricity for 24 hours and establishing pharmacies in all inhabited islands of the Maldives.
At the ceremony the President was awarded with an honorary plaque, Kanditheemu Council Head Mr. Al Rifaaz presented the plaque on behalf of the island’s residents.
The President was accompanied by Minister of Environment and Energy Hon. Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad, Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Azleen Ahmed, Vice President of the Progressive Party of Maldives and Parliament Member of Fonadhoo constituency Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdullah, Parliament Member of Kanditheemu constituency Hon. Mohamed Hussain, Parliament Member of Kelaa constituency Hon. Ali Arif, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, at the President’s Office, Uz. Mohamed Mujuthaz, Managing Director of MWSC, Hon. Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Hon. Ahmed Shareef.
