President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today inaugurated the harbour at Kurinbi Island in South Thiladhummathi Atoll. The President is currently on a tour of some islands in South Thiladhummathi Atoll, and Kanditheemu Island of North Miladhummadulu Atoll.

Meeting the people of Kurinbi afterwards, the President said that the inauguration of a harbour has brought much joy to the people, and noted that today all Maldivians were celebrating numerous achievements.

In this regard, the President said that the nation should rejoice in the decision to reject the oppression we encounter every day, and also be delighted that the country was on the road of progressively rebuilding itself.

Continuing on, President Yameen pointed out that on average, there were currently more than two ongoing projects in every inhabited island of the Maldives. He noted that the citizens wanted to achieve their aspirations, and lead a peaceful and harmonious life.

In his speech, the President underscored the high priority his administration attached to building a peaceful community, while attaining urban development. He stated that the administration’s goal was to shape a wholesome society, by prioritising quality education and minimising crime.
