President Abdulla Yameen Abdul has attended, the route march and the cultural festivities held this evening, to celebrate the 51st Independence Day.
Upon his arrival at the National Football Stadium, the President was received by Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Zuhoor.
The President was offered a presidential salute, following which the combined brass band of the Schools and the Maldives National Defence Force played the National Anthem.
The Armed Forces Guard then trooped past the Presidential Stand.
The schools which participated in tonight’s activities included Iskandhar School, Jamaluddin School, Kalaafaanu School, Thaajuddin School, Hiriya School, Ahmadhiyya International School, Imaduddin School, Majeedhiyya School and Dharumavantha School.
Attendees were additionally entertained by, the Vaavu Atoll Fulidhoo Bluestar Club showcase of a cultural performance and a 120 troop strong Boduberu performance while renowned artists Ms. Raafiyath Rameeza, Mr. Hussain Hamdhoon, Ms. Anaana Mohamed, Ms. Laisha Junaid and Ms. Khadheeja Mohamed each dazzled with individual performances.
