President Ratifies the First amendment to the “Maldivian Citizenship Act”

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has ratified the First amendment to the “Maldivian Citizenship Act” (Act No. 4/69). The Bill was passed by the Parliament at the 28th sitting of its first session, on 20th April 2016.

Following ratification, the Act has been ‎published in the Government Gazette.‎

The amendment bill states the conditions under which an individual may renounce their Maldivian citizenship, in accordance with the Maldivian law.
