President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom met with the resident Maldivian Community in Malaysia during a function held at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia tonight.

During the function the President spoke candidly about his administration's aspirations and the transformative agenda towards creating opportunity and creating greater wealth and stability within the nation.

Critical thinking, and judging situations and people by merit, and not hearsay, should be a key component of studies and education the President said.

The President also spoke on the importance of maintaining the rule of law and working towards building capacity in all our institutions — and creating a robust framework for development and progress.

The administration is focused on consistently working towards elevating the standard of living and always increasing net national welfare the President said.

The Maldivian High Commissioner to Malaysia, His Excellency Mohamed Fahmy Hassan also spoke at the function.

The President is in Malaysia on an official visit by invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister and will meet with him tomorrow for one-on-one discussions.

In addition to the President and First Lady, the High Commissioner of the Maldives to Malaysia His Excellency Mohamed Fahmy Hassan and senior officials of the delegation attended the function.
