President Ratifies First Amendment to the Act on Prevention of Terrorism

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has ratified the first amendment to the “Act on Prevention of Terrorism” (Act No. 32/2015). The amendment was passed by the Parliament at the 14th sitting of its first session, on 16th March 2016.

Following ratification, the Act has been ‎published in the Government Gazette.‎

The amendment states that the President will constitute a list of suspected terrorist organisations, which will be monitored by the Maldives National Defence Force, as per instruction from the National Security Council.
