President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that countries of this region can work together to stop terrorism. The President stated this during a courtesy call made by Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Mangala Samaraweera and Minister of Finance, His Excellency Mr. Ravi Karunanayake at the President’s Office on Thursday morning.
During this meeting, the President and the two Ministers from Sri Lanka highlighted the existing bilateral relationship between both countries and discussed that areas be further explored in order to enhance the good working relationship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the meeting, the Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked President Yameen for his invitation and assured the President that Sri Lankan Government will contribute to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The President was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Dunya Maumoon, Foreign Secretary of Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and Under Secretary at the President’s Office Mr. Mohamed Naseer.
