The New Norwegian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr. Thorbjørn Gaustadsæther said that there is scope for further development of Maldives-Norway bilateral relationship. He stated this during the call to present his credentials to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom held this morning at the President’s Office.
At the ceremony, President Yameen congratulated the new Ambassador on the commencement of his term. During this meeting the President and the Norwegian Ambassador discussed that areas be further explored in order to enhance the good working relationship between the Maldives and Norway. In this regard, the President and the Norwegian Ambassador spoke of supporting each other in the International Arena. Further discussions were held regarding eliminating International terrorism, environment protection, tourism and economic development in the Maldives.
Speaking at the meeting, the Norwegian Ambassador expressed his hopes to further develop the existing bilateral relationship between both countries during his tenure.
The President was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Dunya Maumoon and Under Secretary at the President’s Office Mr. Mohamed Naseer.
