President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom says India has been our closest Partner in terms of diplomatic and political relations. He made this statement while speaking at the farewell call made by the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Shri Rajiv Sahare. The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Monday morning.
At the meeting, the President expressed his gratitude to the Indian High Commissioner Shri Rajiv Sahare for the tremendous work done in order to maintain and strengthen the bilateral relationship between both countries during his time in office.
During this meeting, the President and the High Commissioner highlighted areas to be further addressed in order to enhance the good working relationship between the Maldives and India. In this regard, the President and the Indian High Commissioner spoke of supporting each other in the International Arena and in times of political distress.
At the meeting, Indian High Commissioner Shri Rajiv Sahare said that it was a pleasure to serve the Maldives as the Indian High Commissioner, and expressed gratitude to the Government and President of Maldives for the continued cooperation given to him during his tenure. The Indian High Commissioner further said that is was deeply satisfying and gratifying to go back with a sense of achievement in solidifying the bond between both countries.
The President was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Under Secretary at the President’s Office Mr. Mohamed Naseer.
