New Ambassador of Denmark accredited to the Maldives Mr Freddy Svane presented his credentials to President Mohamed Nasheed today.
Speaking after the ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, President Nasheed congratulated Ambassador Svane on his appointment.
The President noted the assistance and support rendered by the Danish government for the development of the Maldives and especially during the democratic transition in the Maldives.
Ambassador Svane assured the President of continued support of the Danish government for the Maldives.
He underscored the instrumental role played by the President during the COP15, United Nations climate change summit, held in Copenhagen last year and said the President’s contribution has changed the global climate change debate.
The President and Ambassador Svane also discussed ways of further strengthening the relations that exist between the Maldives and Denmark.
Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed and President’s Political Affairs Advisor Hassan Afeef participated in the meeting.
