President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has on Wednesday inaugurated the Youth Leaders Network of the Maldives. The inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday afternoon at the President’s Office.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Yameen urged the Maldivian youth to refrain from any political activities that may compromise their futures. Emphasising the importance of harnessing positive youth energy for the development of the nation, President Yameen stated that the establishment of the Youth Leaders Network was such an effort of the Government. Continuing on, President Yameen urged the political leaders to steer the youth in the right direction, with respect to the legal frameworks of the country.
Underscoring that his Government will not compromise the sovereignty of the nation, President Yameen said that it was the Maldivians who should have the control of its domestic affairs. Continuing in this regard, the President said that it was unacceptable for political leaders to seek foreign interferences to settle the domestic affairs of the country.
At the ceremony, President Yameen handed out the membership certificates to the members of the Youth Leaders Network.
Youth Leaders Network, an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs is a consortium of college and university students formed to empower Maldivians and to promote social work.
