President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed New Year greetings to the people of the Maldives.
In his message the President noted that the year 2015 would mark 50 years of independence of the country, and highlighted the important of accomplishments of the Government in the year 2014. Underlining that the remarkable milestones reached by the Government in fulfilling its electoral pledges, the President said that the year 2014 has been a prosperous and joyful year for all Maldivian people. The President also noted that the Government was able to resolve some of the major challenges faced in the country.
In his message, President Yameen pointed out the important measures taken by the government in the year 2014, to turn around the country’s economy from the state it was in at the time of his assumption of office. He has said that the people of Maldives have witnessed the beneficial results of these measures taken by the Government.
Highlighting the Government’s youth manifesto, the President noted the efforts being made to provide more job opportunities and higher education opportunities for the youth. He said that the Government’s aim was to assist the development of the youth’s skills and aptitudes, and to empower them more.
