President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has urged everyone to set aside political differences and unite in delivering services to the people, and in working for the advancement and rights of the people. The President made this remark while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Addu City Water project and the Mifco Fisheries Complex project, held in Hulhudhoo Sunday evening.
Noting that great responsibility was attached to every position of power, the President said that those elected to position by the people had a due to be paid to the people. In this regard, the President stated that the highest accomplishment of serving in a position came in the satisfaction of being able to fulfill the needs of the people that were associated with the duties of that position.
In his speech, President Yameen said that despite differences in political views, for a nation to maintain its nationhood, everyone must unite in matters of independence, nationality, and sovereignty of the country. Continuing in this regard, the President called upon everyone to respect their nationality. He also pointed out that we must not let any foreign influence interfere with our independence and sovereignty.
