The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Biswal today paid a courtesy call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
At the meeting held at the President’s Office this morning, President Yameen and the Assistant Secretary of State exchanged views on enhancing the close friendly relations that exist between the Maldives and the United States. The Assistant Secretary of State also inquired about the efforts and steps undertaken by the Maldives on the socioeconomic development of the country.
The President and the Assistance Secretary of State further discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the international arena on areas of mutual concern such as in global fight against terrorism.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon, Ambassador at Large, Ahmed Mohamed, Charge d’ Affairs of the US Embassy in Colombo, Andrew Mann and the Deputy Acting Political Chief of the Embassy of US in Colombo and the Deputy Head of the Political Section, Siobah Oat-Judge.
