The National Awards Technical Committee has today published details on ‎the opening of nominations for this year’s National Award for Special ‎Achievement, in the Government Gazette. Committee Members also held a ‎press briefing this morning regarding the Awards, at the President’s Office. ‎

This Award is conferred by the President to honor those who achieve high ‎distinctions for the Maldives, and to guide more individuals to attain these ‎commendable achievements. The National Award for Special Achievement ‎also aims to further encourage Maldivians to obtain outstanding ‎accomplishments in those areas particularly valuable to the country. ‎

Recipients of this year’s National Award for Special Achievement will be ‎honored at the official function held to mark Republic Day. ‎

The areas for this year’s award are as follows:‎
‎1.‎ Achieving the highest rank in an academic or skill training course

‎2.‎ Achieving the highest academic qualification in the Maldives National ‎Qualifications Framework

‎3.‎ Achieving the highest rank in an international exhibition or competition

‎4.‎ Achieving an outstanding accomplishment in the areas of fisheries or ‎innovation

This year, the Committee will presents awards in 4 areas pertaining to the ‎outstanding performance of a skill or innovation, to a standard recognized by ‎the Government. Details regarding the areas were provided at today’s press ‎briefing, and have been published in the Government Gazette.‎

The nomination forms for the National Award for Special Achievement are ‎available from the President’s Office during official work hours, and can be ‎downloaded from www.presidencymaldives.gov.mv. The deadline for ‎submitting the completed nominations forms is 15 September 2014, and ‎should be addressed to the National Awards Technical Committee. ‎
