Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has met with the visiting President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa. The meeting was held this morning at Kurumba Maldives.
During the meeting, Vice President Jameel and President Rajapaksa discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries in various areas of development. The Vice President also expressed appreciation to the closeness and support maintained by the Government of Sri Lanka with the Maldives and stressed on further strengthening of this relationship in the future.
Continuing in this regard, he expressed hope that the three key agreements signed between the two countries would further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Vice President further thanked the people and the Government of Sri Lanka for the kind hospitality extended to the resident Maldivian community in Sri Lanka
President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to President Yameen, the Government, and the people of Maldives, for the invitation to make a visit to the Maldives. He reassured President Yameen, of Sri Lanka’s willingness to assist the Maldives in every way.
