Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has this evening departed on an official visit to China. During this official visit, he will be attending the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd China-South Asia Expo, and the 9th China-South Asia Business Forum. The Vice President is also scheduled to meet with the Vice Premier of China, H.E Wang Yang.
Meeting the local media at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport prior to his departure, Vice President Jameel said that he will be meeting with the Chinese business community, in order to seek potential investors for various development projects in the Maldives.
Continuing in this regard, the Vice President stated that he will be discussing the Government’s reform agenda with the Chinese Government, including housing development projects, the integrated development project, iHavan, in the north of the country, and airport development initiatives. Vice President Jameel further stated that the Chinese Government has expressed its keenness in cooperating with the Maldives on these development projects.
