The new Sudanese Ambassador accredited to the Maldives, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Eisa Hassan Al Talib presented his letter of credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom this morning.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present credentials, President Yameen congratulated Ambassador Al Talib on the commencement of his term. Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador discussed ways to strengthening existing bilateral ties between the Maldives and Sudan, and explored avenues for further cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Al Talib commented on the special fraternal relationship between the Maldives and Sudan, with both countries being Muslim nations, and affirmed his commitment to enhancing these ties during his term of office. President Yameen recalled the longstanding cordial ties between the two countries, and emphasized his wish for bilateral collaborative efforts to improve further in the time ahead.
The meeting was attended by the Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, and the Military Attaché at the Sudanese Embassy in India, Mr. A. Hamid.
