President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today inaugurated the land reclamation project of Kaafu Thulusdhoo.
Speaking at the ceremony held this morning at Thulusdhoo, President urged the people and Members of the Island Council to make effective use of the reclaimed land.
Noting that reclaimed land was an important asset to the people of Thulusdhoo, President Yameen expressed hope that it would fulfil the developmental aspirations of the people. In this regard, the President underlined that it would ease congestion and foster connectivity to the island.
Highlighting the Government’s pledge for economic transformation, President Yameen assured of the Government’s commitment to bring economic development and prosperity to the people. In this regard, President underscored the need for land reclamation to undertake key developmental projects in the Maldives.
President Yameen said that his Government welcomes the Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate allegation of corruption in its projects. However, the President requested the Commission to expedite its investigation process, in order to prevent financial losses for the Government, and to avoid service disruptions for the people.
In his speech, President Yameen underlined the developmental projects planned for the island.
