President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today inaugurated ‎the land reclamation project of Kaafu Thulusdhoo.‎

Speaking at the ceremony held this morning at Thulusdhoo, ‎President urged the people and Members of the Island Council to make ‎effective ‎‎use of the reclaimed land. ‎

Noting that reclaimed land was an important asset to the people of ‎Thulusdhoo, President Yameen expressed hope that it would fulfil the ‎developmental aspirations of the people. In this regard, the President ‎underlined that it would ease congestion and foster connectivity to the ‎island.‎

Highlighting the Government’s pledge for economic ‎transformation, President Yameen assured of the Government’s ‎commitment to bring economic development and prosperity to the people. ‎In this regard, President underscored the need for land reclamation to ‎undertake key developmental projects in the Maldives.‎

President Yameen said that his Government welcomes the Anti-‎Corruption Commission to investigate allegation of corruption in its ‎projects. However, the President requested the Commission to expedite its ‎investigation process, in order to prevent financial losses for the ‎Government, and to avoid service disruptions for the people.‎

In his speech, President Yameen underlined the developmental ‎projects planned for the island.‎
