The new Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines accredited to the Maldives, H.E. Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo, presented his letter of credence to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, this afternoon.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present credentials, President Yameen welcomed Ambassador Bandillo to the Maldives, and congratulated the Ambassador on the commencement of his term.
Meeting the new Ambassador after the ceremonial presentation of credentials, President Yameen noted the strong diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Philippines, and expressed his confidence that the two countries would further strengthen the existing relations during Ambassador Bandillo’s tenure.
At the meeting, the President briefed the Ambassador on the Government’s plans for the advancement of the Maldivian economy, and the opportunities for foreign investors in the Maldives.
The Ambassador of Philippines assured the President of his commitment to strengthening the existing bilateral bonds between the two countries. He discussed with the President, areas in which Philippines could extend assistance to the Maldives in the future.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dunya Maumoon, and Minister at the President’s Office, Hon. Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
