President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has arrived this evening, on conclusion of his official visit to Japan. The President’s visit was made on the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzō Abe

Speaking to the local media on arrival at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, the President announced that his visit to Japan has been very successful.

The President underlined that the objective of his visit was to discuss the bilateral ties between the two countries, and to seek potential investors for key developmental projects in the Maldives.

Continuing in this regard, the President highlighted that Japanese businessmen and private sector investors expressed interest to invest in the Maldives, during the Maldives Investment Promotion forum held. The President further noted that Prime Minister Shinzō Abe assured of the Japanese Government's assistance in the development projects of the Maldives.

The President further highlighted that it was an honour to have met Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito during the visit to Japan.
