Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed attended a function held to mark the 81st Anniversary of Maldives Police Service at Addu City. The function was held last evening at Sharafuddin School.
Speaking at the function, the Vice President said that the current state of police service represents the developments of our society.
In his speech Vice President highlighted that the respect for rule of law marks the foundation of a civilized society. In this regard he said that there was no development or civilization more crucial to the nation then the respect and obedience to the law by its people.
In his speech, Vice President Jameel underscored the need to redefine the meaning of “civilization’ in the Maldivian society.
Emphasizing the role of police in implementing the law in order to maintain public order and national security, Vice President stressed the need for the political leaders to respect the law.
At the function, tokens of appreciation were presented to members of the public for their assistance and support for the Maldives Police Service during the past year. Commemorative plaques were also presented to Police Officers who have served for over 25 years, and for recognition of outstanding performances of police officers.
