Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed attended a function ‎held to mark the 81st Anniversary of Maldives Police Service at Addu City. ‎The function was held last evening at Sharafuddin School.‎

Speaking at the function, the Vice President said that the current ‎state of police service represents the developments of our society. ‎

In his speech Vice President highlighted that the respect for rule of ‎law marks the foundation of a civilized society. In this regard he said that ‎there was no development or civilization more crucial to the nation then the ‎respect and obedience to the law by its people.‎

In his speech, Vice President Jameel underscored the need to ‎redefine ‎the meaning of “civilization’ in the Maldivian society. ‎

Emphasizing the role of police in implementing the law in order to ‎maintain public order and national security, Vice President stressed the ‎need for the political leaders to respect the law.‎

At the function, tokens of appreciation were presented to ‎members ‎of the public for ‎their ‎assistance and support for the Maldives ‎Police ‎Service during the past ‎year.‎ ‎Commemorative plaques were also presented ‎to Police Officers who have served for ‎over 25 years, and for recognition of ‎outstanding performances of police officers.‎
