President establishes Maldives Correctional Service; abolishes Department of Penitentiary and Rehabilitation Services

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today established the Maldives Correctional Service.

Following the establishment of this institute, the Department of Penitentiary and Rehabilitation Services (DPRS), administered under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the “Second Chance Programme” Office which was under the administration of DPRS, have now been abolished.
