The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Maldives, His Excellency Wiebe Jakob de Boer, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.
The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed His Excellency Wiebe Jakob de Boer as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Maldives.
Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure development, climate adaptation, and human rights cooperation. The President underscored the importance of the Netherlands' support for development projects, and both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing investment and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Netherlands were established on 3 September 1979.
