President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today appointed Uz Mohamed Anil as the Attorney General. The appointment ceremony was held this evening at the President’s Office.
The Attorney General took oath of Office before the Supreme Court Judge Uz Abdulla Areef.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President stated that all Cabinet portfolios have been employed with the appointment of the Attorney General. The President appealed to all Cabinet Ministers to put forth sincerity and morality in performing their duties. He also requested the members of the Cabinet to always abide by the Constitution of the Maldives, and to put in every effort to uphold the rule of law.
In his speech, the President noted that his Cabinet was finely selected following great consideration of all nominees from the coalition parties. He further said that with the grace of Allah Almighty, his Cabinet consists of the most highly qualified, capable and experienced individuals at the moment.
