High Commissioner of Australia accredited to the Maldives, Robyn Mudie has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, discussions were focused on the presidential election which was held on 7th September.
High Commissioner Mudie commended the government for conducting a smooth and peaceful election. The High Commissioner further applauded President Waheed for his leadership in restoring peace and stability following the change of power in February 2012.
Speaking at the meeting, President reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure the second round of voting takes place in an equally smooth and peaceful manner.
President expressed his appreciation for the close bilateral relations that exists between the two countries.
