Ambassador of the United States accredited to the Maldives Michele J. Sison has paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Waheed. The meeting was held this afternoon at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, discussions were held on proceedings of the presidential elections held last Saturday. The President assured that maintaining stability and calm in the country was a top priority, and noted that everything went smoothly on Election Day.
The US Ambassador noted that all independent observers reported positively regarding the elections. She further expressed hopes that the same stability would be maintained in the second round of elections to be held on 28th of this month.
