President Nasheed has urged the members of the National Planning Council to provide more information to the public to make them more aware of the Government’s decentralisation and privatisation policies.

Meeting the members of the Council today, President Nasheed noted that the Government’s objective was to facilitate provision of the basic services to the people from where they lives are based. He also stressed that the Government’s priority was to create public-private partnerships with experienced private and overseas organisations to provide utilities, develop harbours and construct roads.

The President said that while public-private partnerships are run successfully in other parts of the world, it would not be wise for the Maldives to shy away from it.
