New High Commissioner of New Zealand accredited to the Maldives, Bernadette Cavanagh presented her letter of credence to President Dr Mohamed Waheed this morning.

At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the credentials, President Waheed congratulated High Commissioner Cavanagh.

The President and the High Commissioner discussed bilateral relations that exist between the two countries and ways to further strengthen ties.

President Waheed and High Commissioner Cavanagh further deliberated on the current political situation of the country and the preparations for this year’s presidential elections.

President Waheed expressed appreciation for the support received from the government of New Zealand towards strengthening the education sector in the Maldives.

High Commissioner Cavanagh reassured of New Zealand’s continuous support and cooperation to the Maldives.
