The Prime Minister of Thailand Yingluck Shinawatra has arrived in the Maldives this afternoon. She was greeted on arrival at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdul Samad Abdulla.
On her arrival at Malé Official Jetty, Prime Minister Shinawatra was greeted by President Dr Mohamed Waheed.
Upon her arrival at the Official Jetty, the Prime Minister was welcomed with a bugle call and 7 gun salute.
Prime Minister Shinawatra was introduced to Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed Deen, Ministers, State Ministers and other senior government officials. The members of the Thai delegation were then introduced to President Waheed.
Prime Minister Shinawatra and President Waheed then proceeded to the Saluting Dias, where the national anthems of the two countries were played. The Prime Minister then inspected a Guard of Honour by the Maldives National Defence Force.
From the Official Jetty, the Prime Minister proceeded to Medhuziyaaraiy, where she was received by the Vice President. The Prime Minister was escorted from Medhuziyaaraiy to Mulee-aage in a procession of the traditional guards. She was received at Mulee-aage by President Dr Waheed.
Later on today, the Prime Minister will call on President Waheed and the two leaders will hold official talks.
