President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of condolence to the President of Italy, Giogio Napolitano, following the passing away of Former Prime Minister, Giulio Andreotti. President Waheed’s message to the President of Italy reads as follows.
“It is with deep shock and sadness that I learned of the passing away of Former Italian Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr Giulio Andreotti. He will no doubt be remembered as a leading politician, who rendered distinguished services to the nation in various capacities with dedication and patriotism, in particular, his valiant contributions in bringing democracy to the country throughout an illustrious political career spanning over many decades.”
“As the Government and the people of Italy mourn this great National tragedy, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt sympathies to you, the Government and the people of Italy.”
