Today, President Mohamed Nasheed visited Maafushi to attend the concluding ceremony for programmes at the Education Training Centre for Children which were organised by Maafannu Women’s Development Committee.
The Maafannu Women’s Committee, assisted by four other organisations, conducted seven programmes at the Centre, including sewing, fabric painting, hair-dressing, and cake decoration courses.
Speaking at the function, President Nasheed said the government would do whatever it can to help the children at the Centre, adding that, as a welfare state, providing such assistance was government’s responsibility.
At the function, President Nasheed presented certificates to the winners of the Centre’s Quran recitation competition. He also presented a donation from the Maafannu Women’s Development Committee to the Centre.
The President will return to Male later in the afternoon.
