President Mohamed Nasheed and First Lady Madam Laila Ali on Saturday attended the screening of documentary by renowned wildlife film maker Shekhar Dattatri, ‘The truth about tigers’.
Speaking before the screening, President Nasheed spoke on the importance of protecting the wild life.
Speaking in this regard, he said the government has begun collecting information on the reef system of the Maldives. He said:
“The idea is that we try to manage it and we try to save the bulk of it and also at the same time try to see how we may be able to make a livelihood out of it while saving it”.
The film explains about the ecology of tigers, the condition of its decline and possible solutions to the problem.
