President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Italian Republic, Mr Giorgio Napolitano, following his re-election.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, and on my own behalf, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency, my sincere good wishes and congratulations on your re-election as the President of Italy.”
“I am confident that under your able leadership, Italy will continue to play a prominent role in the challenging global issues. In this regard, I would like to express the preparedness of my Government to extend its full commitment to working closely with you.”
“I am hopeful that in the years ahead our two countries would be able to further strengthen and diversify our bilateral ties.”
“Please accept my personal best wishes for your good health and well-being and for the peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Italy.”
