The Cabinet has today approved a policy for providing housing benefits for people applying for social housing units to be developed by the government.
The Cabinet approved the policies after discussing a paper proposed by the Ministry of Housing, Transport and Environment.
Under the policy, households earning less than Rf25,000 per month will be eligible for social housing benefits.
Households earning Rf5,000 or less per month will receive the full amount of social housing benefits.
The government has planned to develop 10,000 housing units as one of its five key pledges.
