Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef took oath of office on 17 November 2023. Prior to that, he filled the role of Fares Maathoda consituency’s Member of Parliament.
In his 9 years in the parliament, Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef served his constituency with diligence and dedication.
Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef began his government service in 2004 as the Secretary at Hulhumale’ Hospital. Since then, Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef has served at the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Human Rights, and at the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives. He also served the private sector in multiple companies and worked as a lecturer at Family Court to educate the public on marriage and familial relations.
He is known for his commitment to sports and social development in the Maldives. Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef also served as the Senior Vice President of Football Association of Maldives (FAM). In addition to playing sports during his academic life, he also participated in various literary activities and events.
Vice President Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef is an Al-Azhar University, Egypt, alumni who obtained his Undergraduate Degree in Social Service and Community Development. He received his Master of Business Administration from Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom. The Vice President is well-versed in both English and Arabic languages.
