President Mohamed Nasheed has today commenced a tour to some islands of Felidhe atoll. The first leg of his tour was at Fulidhoo.

Speaking with the people of Fulidhoo, President Nasheed said the government’s developmental policy was mainly based on its decentralisation policy.

Focusing on the developmental plans for the island, the President said water, sewerage and electricity services would be provided to the people of Felidhoo. In addition, he said that under the government’s housing policy about 50 flats would be built in Felidhoo. These flats, the President said, would be given on an instalment basis.

In his speech, the President noted that most of the islands in the Maldives had a population of less than 700 people and that the government would give special attention to these islands.
