President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that as we work towards the advancement of the country, nothing must be held with a higher esteem than stability of families, harmony in the island, and peace in the country. The President made this remark while addressing the people of An’golhitheemu Island today, as part of his current visit to some islands in the North Maalhosmadulu Atoll.

Speaking in this regard, the President said that all that is done for the improvement of the island should also be carried out with the full support and cooperation of the people. The President also appealed to the people of An’golhitheemu to maintain the brotherhood and good relations within the community.

In his speech, President Waheed noted that smaller island communities sometimes act as a barrier preventing the Maldives from gaining speedy development. He said that highly populated islands presented a greater number of opportunities, and especially open doors for new business ventures.
