President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of congratulations to the new President of China Mr Xi Jinping.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It gives me great pleasure to extend to you warm congratulations and sincere well wishes on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives and those of my own to Your Excellency, as you assume your appointment as President of the People's Republic of China.”
“China has made remarkable progress over the last decades. You are assuming office at an important juncture in China's development and I am confident that you will succeed in steering the challenges and seize the opportunities ahead to attain even higher levels of prosperity and progress in the coming years.”
“Our two countries enjoy close and substantive cooperation that are underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges and robust economic linkages. While expressing my confidence that the long-standing relations that exist between our two countries will be further enhanced in the coming years, may I also convey my best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of China.”
