President Dr Mohamed Waheed has sent a message of condolence to Acting President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, following the passing away of President Hugo Chavez.
President Waheed’s message to the Acting President of Venezuela reads as follows.
“It is with deep shock and sadness that I learned of the passing away of President Hugo Chavez. He will no doubt be remembered as a leading politician, who rendered distinguished services to the country and in particular, his role in the area of social development, poverty reduction and establishing the values of human rights within the Venezuelan society.”
“As the Government and the people of Venezuela mourn this great National tragedy, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt sympathies to you, the Government and the people of Venezuela.
“Please also convey our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.”
