President Dr Mohamed Waheed has this morning inaugurated the road development project of Ameenee Magu in Kulhudhuffushi. The President is visiting the island as part of his current visit to Kulhudhuffushi and Hanimaadhoo of South Thiladhummathi Atoll.

The agreement for the development of new road networks in Kulhudhuffushi was also signed at the ceremony. The agreement was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muiz, and the Managing Director of Maldives Road Development Corporation Mr Ibrahim Nazeem.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President said that it was an honour to be able to inaugurate the construction of the first modern road in Kulhudhuffushi, under proper infrastructural planning. The President noted that it was an important step towards the development of the island.

In his speech the President said that, in building roads, the most priority must be given to build them in a way that it was easier for pedestrians to commute. He underlined that executing projects without efficient planning always lead to very challenging consequences. He also stressed the importance of planting trees alongside the road as it gets completed.
