President Dr Mohamed Waheed has decided that this year’s National Award of Honour and National Award of Recognition would be presented on Independence Day. Previously, the awards were given on the Republic Day.
As this year’s Independence Day falls on the month of Ramadan, the function to present the awards will be held in August, after Ramadan.
The National Awards Committee and the National Awards Technical Committee will soon begin work to open nominations for this year’s national awards.
