As part of his visit to Abu Dhabi, President Mohamed Nasheed has today met with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak of Malaysia.

Speaking at the meeting, President Nasheed thanked the people and government of Malaysia for the continued assistance and support for the Maldives.

He especially highlighted the assistance by former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Musa Hitam as the Special Envoy of the Commonwealth Secretary General, during the reform process.

President also noted that many Maldivians were studying in Malaysian educational institutions, and said that this was mainly because of the quality education that was available in Malaysia.

Noting the close friendly relations between the Maldives and Malaysia, the Prime Minister said Malaysia welcome all Maldivian students coming to Malaysia to pursue further studies.

He also briefed the President on Malaysia's economic situation and the steps the Malaysian government was taking to keep the economy growing.
