President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said Noonu Atoll airport project would be announced and that with new investors, work on the project would soon begin. He also expressed confidence that the airport would be completed during this year. He made this announcement in his address to the people of Noonu Hen’badhoo, during his visit to the island.
President said although the airport project was handed over to a party, work on the project has been delayed for various reasons. He urged the people to be patient and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to provide services and assistance to the people. He also assured the people that the government would continue its basic services to the people, in spite of the budget concerns.
During his visit to the island, the President inaugurated a jetty constructed in the island with the assistance from Champaa Brothers. The President thanked Champaa Brothers, especially Champaa Mohamed Moosa for the generous assistance.
